Rail Travel Policy
Train reservations can be booked through PEFS Travel (we have our own Amtrak account).
When booking your train reservation(s), keep these points in mind:
1) Reserved trains on the northeast corridor are permitted and should be used for most Amtrak travel. "Coach Class" and "Business Class" (reserved seating) are permitted on these trains.
2) Acela trains are high speed trains. Appropriate usage of Acela services between Philadelphia, New York and Washington, DC. is the responsibility of each school/center, and these trains should ONLY be used when time is of the essence. Business class seats on Acela trains are the acceptable class of service. Justification for the use of Acela must be provided to PEFS Travel when sending your reservation request(s).
3) Use of First Class service on Amtrak trains is not permitted. Any exception to this policy requires supplemental approval by the head of the School or Center (or a designated representative). Justification for the use of First Class service on Amtrak must be provided to PEFS Travel when sending your reservation request(s).

PEFS Travel
After submitting the form to PEFS Travel, PEFS Travel will create and pay for your reservation. You will receive your Amtrak confirmation email and ticket, from Amtrak, once the payment is completed by PEFS Travel. If you do not receive your confirmation and ticket, email travel@seas.upenn.edu to inquire.
